2013 Performance Management & Review Full Report

The survey was completed Nov & Dec 2013, across North America & Europe and 77% of respondents are responsible for the performance of others, while the balance play a supporting role such as HR. The three main findings are:

1. Alignment of the Individuals Role, Goals & Career with those of the organisation is a significant opportunity for improvement.

2. Though most organisation have a process the quality and frequency of engagement between the Individual and their manager can be enhanced.

3. Time, Overhead and administration are barriers to good performance management execution , but more use of technology can overcome these.

What is the capability of a business to scale? @Note 14

There are two significant hurdles face by entrepreneurial ventures, the first is validation & verification of the business proposition i.e. confirming that there is a recognised value proposition for the market and the venture itself, in the offering, signalled by successful and growing sales.  The second hurdle is scaling the business to the potential available in the global marketplace. Leaders often do not consider the capability to scale until late in the process and, often they may have to have a costly re-engineering of their business or worst case exit the business after time as scaling cannot be adequately resourced. There are two aspects to scaling capability 1. Structural Scaling capability, 2. Asset  scaling  capability and they are both intertwined in many ways. Continue reading
